Disasters: A blessing in disguise

Every tragedy is a blessing in disguise. Now, I know it may not seem like one in the beginning but in the long run, all becomes clear. Let me explain with an example. Let us take the example of the murder of George Floyd. Yes, it was brutal and shocking and horrible. Yes, it should never happen to anyone. But, in the aftermath, look what happened: massive protests that no one had ever seen before, broke out in the country. Not only blacks, but people of all color, races, communities flocked out in masses to finally put a stop to hate crimes. And because of these nationwide protests, for the first time in history, efforts are being made to change the way policing is conducted as we know it.

Let me give you a more personal account to make you believe that disasters are indeed, a blessing in disguise. Around 3 years ago, I was in one hell of a country, let's call it XYZ. Now, XYZ is one of the best countries in the world, in terms of sheer beauty and cultural heritage. Not to mention the fact that it is one of the major hubs of the world. So, you can imagine what living there was like. I mean, I was living the best days of my life there; everywhere I looked, I just saw sheer magnificent beauty. I remember thinking to myself like how could I have gotten so lucky as to have landed in such a wonderful place! So, you can imagine how devastated I was when I was forced to move out. I was gut-wrenched, heart broken and I thought life finally was giving me payback for all my bad actions. I ended up in PQR this time; but although the country was in the same region, it was nowhere near as beautiful or exciting as XYZ. It truly felt like disaster had struck.

Two years on, I have learnt that the move from XYZ  to PQR was, in fact, a blessing in disguise! I have learnt various essential lessons here that I would have surely missed had I still been living in XYZ. I have grown in ways that I never imagined possible before. On the surface of things, the move still seems harsh but given the absurd circumstances; it is hard to feel anything but grateful.

So I hope I have been able to convey my message through this post which is disasters are indeed a blessing in disguise. I say this because whenever disasters strike, they really force us to stop what we do in our life and to introspect, which is necessary for one's growth.
